New 52 -Photo Challenge
It is a brand new year! The start of 2018 and the NEW 52! What resolutions are you going to make?
I get asked that question every year. I sit and ponder about what things I am going to change and what things I can do differently. Sometimes I can stick to my resolution but there is always that one “challenge” that breaks me! You know like when you say you will loose weight and you are doing great until you get offered a delightful dessert and after one bite it has disappeared from your plate!
Well my friends, this year one of my resolutions still has to do with the gym but more importantly I am focused on making memories, capturing them in an artistic way, and cherishing each one! I want you to join me on this journey and together we can capture memories together!
INTRODUCING THE NEW 52!
The New 52 is a photo challenge that starts today! In todays society we have many ways we can tell our story using photos but what we tend to do is not be real. What I am talking about is using one of those filters that makes your photo look pretty!
There are Facebook filters, Snap Chat filters, Instagram filters and app filters! These all give your photos a unique and beautiful touch with out really having to learn your camera. Although I love these tools I also realize that LIFE is MESSY and has NO FILTERS!
In this challenge, I want you to capture moments that you can look back at and laugh, cry and maybe do both at the same time! I want you to switch your focus and stop trying to capture that “pretty perfect photo” and start capturing REAL LIFE MOMENTS!
Take a photo of your dog running around your house with snow all over him, your kids crying over spilt milk or jumping on the bed! Most of all start capturing the crazy chaos that life throws at us every day!
ARE YOU IN?
Each week there will be a different theme to follow. You have until the end of the week to post your photo in the PIC Community. At the end of the 52 week challenge you will have a collection of photos that I will help you make into an album.
You will need to make a folder on your desk top and title it NEW 52, then place your weekly photos in that folder. Thats it …I only have one rule!
*NO FILTERS NEEDED*
Instead of taking a photo and then editing it on your phone using an app with pretty filters or fancy photo software I want you to post your photo just as it is! This will help you to use your fancy camera, point and shoot or smartphone to its full compacity. Don’t worry I will help you along the way with lots of camera tips and tricks!
SHARE YOUR WORK
Join the PIC Community and share your photos with the group! I know it is hard to put yourself out there, but it is important part of learning and reflecting on how far you have come with your camera skills. If you are sharing your photo with the rest of the people that are taking part of the challenge, I recommend using the following hashtag #new52. If you see others that are participating and sharing , be sure to comment on their image!
JOIN THE CHALLENGE AT ANY TIME
If you didn’t start this challenge on January 1st no worries! Start it on your birthday or your child’s birthday or Valentine’s day or ANY day! What matters is that you start! I understand that you may miss a week. Life happens! Take your photo when you have time and just back date it!
Thats it! If you are interested in joining our exclusive group and taking part of the NEW 52 photo challenge click HERE!
